Saipan Settlement
The U.S. Department of Labor recovered nearly $400,000 in overtime back wages from nine garment manufacturers in Saipan, part of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Two security companies that provided guard services at two Saipan factories were ordered to pay $42,000 to the employees, and three companies were levied more than $200,000 in penalties. The department of labor has been investigating charges of noncompliance with federal wage and hour laws in Saipan factories for four years.
