Back-to-School Budget
Economic uncertainty will likely keep Back-to-School spending flat in Southern California, according to a Deloitte & Touche survey. The study found that 63 percent of families plan to spend about $200 or more per child on Back-to-School supplies and clothing—about the same as they spent last year. Discount stores seem to be the stores of choice for most parents, according to the survey. Surf-and-skate apparel was the top category for Back-to-School clothing, and Gap, Quiksilver, Roxy, Nike and Billabong were among the most recognized brands.
