Kasil

Created by designer David Lim, Kasil is a contemporary denim line designed and tailored for the average-size woman with a 32-inch inseam and a 7.5- inch rise.

Fit, comfort and detailing are the main ingredients for the Basic 5 Jean, according to the company.

Lim wanted to combine his fine-art background in painting with his experience in his family’s custom- tailoring business to create a high-end denim product with great fit, innovative style and quality workmanship. The family business, High Society Custom Tailoring, is well-known in the television and film industry for making expert-quality custom-tailored suits that have been featured in films such as “Rush Hour 2,” “Minority Report” and “Ocean’s Eleven.”

Lim started developing his line of tailored jeans in 1998 by designing customized jeans for personal clients. He officially launched Kasil in February 2002.

Kasil products come in ring spun denim, twill, corduroy and cotton knit. Current denim bootcut styles are available in 12-ounce to 13-ounce ring spun denim and 11-ounce to 12-ounce crosshatch stretch denim with special hand-sanded abrasion details. Some styles utilize the V-Tex (ventilated-texture) technique, which perforates denim with a tattoo effect to create a variety of patterns and textures. Kasil either embroiders its signature “Diamond V” on back pockets or insets it on corduroy or print fabrics that vary with the seasons.

Sizes range from 25 to 32 and S to XL. Wholesale prices are $12 for logo tanks, $40 to $60 for vests and jackets, and $35 to $65 for skirts and jeans. Kasil is carried in high-end specialty boutiques, including Mint Collection in Los Angeles, Patricia Field in New York, Planet Blue in Malibu, Calif., and Poise in Las Vegas.
