4Whatitsworth Expanding HQ
Los Angeles–based 4Whatitsworth Inc., manufacturer of the Tyte and Beau Dawson brands, is set to open a second factory near its current facility in Commerce, Calif.
The new 25,000-square-foot factory is under construction at 2626 Malt Ave. and should come online this fall. It will house all of the company’s executive offices, its design headquarters, and the sewing and patternmaking centers for Tyte. The company maintains a 30,000-square-foot facility in Commerce at 2876 Vail Ave., where it produces its Beau Dawson brand.
“Tyte has seen a tremendous growth spurt over the last six months with increased sales and distribution,” said Alden Halpern, president and chief executive officer. “To continue this forward pattern while serving our customers with quality products delivered on time, we needed more space.”
Tyte is a 6-year-old bottoms brand aimed at teenage girls. It is sold at Macy’s, Gadzooks, Charlotte Russe, Robinsons- May, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Foley’s, Burdines, Marshall Field’s and Bealls stores. Retail price points range from $22 to $39. The company also operates a private-label business out of Hong Kong and has expanded its sourcing this year to India, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Egypt, Jordan, Kenya and Columbia. —Robert McAllister
