AAFA's Burma Ban
The American Apparel and Footwear Association has called for an immediate ban on U.S. textile, apparel and footwear imports from Burma due to the “ongoing cruel and oppressive nature of the ruling regime” in the country. Referring to the U.S. government’s “2002 Country Report on Human Rights Practices,” the AAFA cited the Burmese government’s continued restriction of workers’ rights, opposition to labor unions and use of forced labor and child labor.
