Million-Dollar Merchandising
Key trends and “million-dollar items” were on the bill at the Barbara Fields Buying Office Fall 2003 Back-to-School Million Dollar Item seminar, held on April 7 at the California Market Center.
Buying-office owner Barbara Fields led the trend seminar, which highlighted her top picks—or “million-dollar items.” Among the sure bets for Fall were military-inspired fashions, including pants with cargo pockets and drawstring details and lots of olive and khaki shades accented with neon brights. Fields also stressed retro-inspired, “geek chic” styles, including argyle and striped sweaters and cheerleader skirts in shades of orange, brown and purple offset with teal.
Strong items included split-neck and zip-front sweaters, track jackets with piping, denim skirts and miniskirts. —Alison A. Nieder
