Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Prentis Bonds Atelier

Prentis Bonds Atelier’s Fall 2003 accessories line, shown April 6 at the Hyatt Sunset Room in Hollywood, featured handmade bracelets, necklaces and earrings made of black onyx, carnelian, jasper, Austrian crystal and laser-treated freshwater pearls. The Los Angeles designer also showed belts enhanced with silver and gold.

Bonds said he was influenced by the art of Erteacute; and by what he called the “the mystery, fantasy and enchantment of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris,” which he wrote about in a poem titled “The Fall.”

Bonds’ jewelry featured small to large teardrop shapes, sterling-silver chain tassels and lace-pattern pendants fashioned from sterling- silver findings that the designer used for drop earrings and necklaces. He also created headdresses from fox fur and fashioned a handbag out of an entire fox body.

Emmy-winning makeup artist Keith Carey, makeup artist Erin Laureau and several Hollywood stylists were on hand for the show. —Robert McAllister
