Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Holly Foss
Designer and Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising student Holly Foss presented her one-of-a-kind designs at Welcome to the Plastic Factory, a monthly art, music and fashion happening held in the industrial section of downtown Los Angeles.
The April 4 event featured a runway show of Foss’ designs— including girlie mini dresses with plunging necklines, flippy gathered skirts and ruffle trims—that evoked 1960s Vegas showgirls. Some of the best pieces included a black sequined mini dress with a white ruffled collar, a pink Grecian dress with a plunging neckline and a green sash, and a two-tone turquoise mini dress worn by the designer.
That evening, Welcome to the Plastic Factory also displayed jewelry by designer John Agee on a black-lacquer mannequin that reclined beneath a sign pronouncing “People who eat white bread have no dreams.” —Alison A. Nieder
