Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Coalition of Los Angeles Designers
The Coalition of Los Angeles Designers (CLAD) fashion show, held April 4 at the Orpheum Theatre, showcased many offerings from some of the city’s upand- coming designers.
CLAD recently added several members—including Rigged by Barbra Horowitz, Starchild, Madley, Andraegonzalo and Ryan Roberts—who joined CLAD veterans Mona & Company, Eisbar, Huzzi and Mhope in this season’s show.
Starchild’s jersey-knit keyhole tunic and recycledleather miniskirt were sexy and stylish. Mona & Company’s purple off-the-shoulder shawl collar top and gray boot-cut trousers were attractive and sophisticated. Madley’s wool wrap sweater and silk-screened ruffle skirt was contemporary with an alternative edge. Andraegonzalo’s cowl-back necktie dress and Mhope’s pencil skirt, worn with a sleeveless apron top, were delicate and feminine. Eisbar offered some great looks for men, including a fuchsia crew T-shirt with an “Abby” graphic and novelty-treated denim. Ryan Roberts’ felted-wool bomber jackets and wool trousers with suede piping and Rigged by Barbara Horowitz’s deconstructed mini halter dress made from hand-cut T-shirts were among some of the other styles on the runway. —Claudia Figueroa
