Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Anja Flint
The 1980s and the decade’s techno-disco beat inspired Anja Flint’s Fall lines, shown April 4 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.
Flint also drew on her German background and Los Angeles influences for looks that ranged from trendy to classic. Silk-chiffon tops and dresses bore beaded lightning-bolt embellishments and prints with unicorns. Punkish, asymmetrical wool tops came in solid dark colors, some with details such as diagonal zippers. These the designer paired with jeans and gauchos—in rust, gray and pin stripes—that featured zip pouches. On the classic side, she displayed a silk-jersey top in a Japanese cut and silk dresses with ruching.
The aim, said Flint, was to emphasize “sunshine, fun and being happy.” —Robert McAllister
