Promoting Pink During L.A. Fashion Week
Many Los Angeles Fashion Week attendees got a glimpse of pink when a parade of women in pink followed by a film crew turned up at the Downtown Standard Hotel. The group piled into a wildly painted school bus and trekked to the Fashion District, where they were seen around the California Market Center and the New Mart.
It was all part of a political, fashionable performance staged by designer Sanni Diesner to launch her CODEPINK by Sanni Diesner apparel line.
CODEPINK: Women For Peace is an organization that urges women to raise the visibility of the peace movement. The organization teamed with Diesner to launch a line the designer describes as appealing to “women who are not afraid to stand up and stand out.”
Diesner creates items that are comfortable, functional and transformable. For example, a shoulder bag can also be worn as a hood, a poncho can be worn as a skirt, and a loose-knit “string top” can also be worn as a shrug.
The Los Angeles Filmmakers Cooperative provided transportation and documented the day, and American Apparel provided the pink T-shirts.
