Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Eduardo Lucero
Los Angeles designer Eduardo Lucero was in a 1950s mood when he created his Fall 2003 collection.
“Since we were about to go to war [when this collection was created], I was trying to do something that was more comforting, like the 1950s,” Lucero said. “The collection is American with a Japanese edge to it. I think it is an evolution of last Fall’s collection—very fun, sexy and youthful but a little darker and more edgy.”
The collection debuted April 5 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.
Colors that predominated were forest and Army green, black and burgundy. There were wide-leg trousers, leather corsets trimmed with ruffles, and pinstriped jackets with sheer kimono sleeves. Motorcycle jackets topped tight skirts. A black taffeta, tucked cocktail dress was paired with a leather capelet, and a dark-green lace coat-dress with a plunging neckline was tied with an obi belt. —Deborah Belgum
