Unemployment Dip
The national unemployment rate fell to 5.7 percent in August from 5.9 percent the month before, according to the Labor Department, which said the figure translated to a net increase of 39,000 jobs. However, employment in the U.S. manufacturing sector dropped in August by 68,000.
