New E! Shows to Bow During N.Y. Fashion Week
E! Entertainment’s Style Network will debut “Style Star” and “Fashiontrance,” two new fashion series to coincide with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Spring 2003 Collections, which runs Sept. 18–23 in New York.
Each week, “Style Star” will feature a 30-minute episode in which a celebrity guest discusses his/her fashion sensibility and how it has evolved over the years. Fashion gurus Andrea Lieberman and Phillip Bloch will be among the stylists from both coasts who will examine the style secrets of celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston, with special one-hour episodes on Cher and Madonna.
Bob Mackie, Karl Lagerfeld, and Mark Badgley and James Mischka are a few designers who will be featured on the show.
The debut episode, which airs Sept. 22 at 10 p.m., features the personal style of actress/ singer Jennifer Lopez and documents her fashion preferences from when she was a “Fly Girl” on the TV show “In Living Color” to recent moments on the red carpet.
“It’s an exciting new series for us because it truly captures the ’style icons’ in fashion history,” said Style Network’s Stephen Croncota, senior vice president of programming. “We look forward to celebrating these truly unique stars and the influence and inspiration they have had on their fans and within the fashion industry.”
“Fashiontrance,” which will also air weekly beginning Sept. 20 at 10 p.m., is an hourlong series that will have back-to-back fashion shows with a dance track and pop-up video trivia bites (a la VH1’s “Pop-Up Video”) about the designers and their collections and the models showcasing them. The first episode will feature fashion on the runway by Michael Kors, Oscar De La Renta, Donna Karan and Catherine Malandrino. —Claudia Figueroa
