Irvinebased upscale manufacturer and retailer St. John Knits announced the retirement of its chief executive officer, chairman and co-founder Bob Gray and also announced his successors. Daughter Kelly Gray, currently co-president and creative director, and Bruce Fetter, currently co-president and chief operating officer, will share the CEO duties upon Bob Gray’s retirement at the beginning of November. Kelly Gray will retain her creative director duties and Fetter will join the company’s board. Bob Gray will remain as honorary chairman and serve as board member and consultant to the company. Marie Gray, who founded the company with husband Bob in 1962, will remain as head designer and Roger Rupert will be promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer from his current position as senior vice president and chief financial officer. Kelly Gray joined the family-owned company in 1982, rising to president in 1996.
