Kmart Goes Green
Troy, Mich.-based retail giant Kmart is overhauling its image beginning with its big red “K” logo. The company is replacing the logo with a new one in lime green and gray. In conjunction, employees will trade in their red aprons for green ones and all the store displays will take on the new hue as well. The retailer also plans to widen the aisles, lower the shelves and pump up the lighting in its stores. And key brands including Martha Stewart, Joe Boxer and Disney will now have their own sections. Additionally, the company is giving individual store managers more control over inventory on certain products.
