Gerber Names New L.A. Director

Gerber Technology has made a series of appointments to its software and management teams, including the promotion of Alan Seymour, who will head operations for Gerber’s Los Angeles office.

The Tolland, Conn.-based technology provider to the sewn products industry named Seymour deputy regional director of its North American Team, replacing Warren Hartenstine, who left the company to join Walter Wilhelm Associates LLC.

Seymour, who has been with Gerber since 1996, will manage the company’s West Coast sales operations with all sales personnel reporting to him. He will be based in the Los Angeles office and will continue to oversee sales operations in Central and Western Canada.

Prior to joining Gerber, Seymour worked for Lectra Systems as well as Virtek Vision Systems in various management positions.

“Alan has done an outstanding job of serving our customers throughout Canada and the Indian subcontinent,” said Sam Simpson, executive director of global sales for Gerber. “He has supplied PDM, CAD and CAM solutions to leading companies in both the apparel and industrial sectors for more than 15 years. This experience will be an invaluable asset to Gerber as we continue to expand our West Coast market share.”

In addition to Seymour’s appointment, Gerber promoted James Arthurs to senior vice president of Gerber’s parent firm, Gerber Scientific Inc., and president of Gerber Technology. Arthurs will lead the company’s marketing, product management, sales, and research and development activities. Arthurs replaces Marc Giles, who was promoted to president and chief executive officer of Gerber Scientific last November.

Gerber also named Sabrena McBride director of software product management. She will be responsible for all Gerber software products, including WebPDM, Artworks, AccuMark and CutWorks. —Robert McAllister
