City of Hope to Host 15th Annual Golf Fund-raiser
The Apparel Industries Group for the City of Hope will host the 15th Annual Norm Crosby Golf Tournament and Dinner on Oct. 28 at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
The 69-year-old Apparel Industries Group is one of the City of Hope’s many branches involved with fund-raising activities, according to Tom Sullivan, chair of the upcoming event.
“The City of Hope has numerous fund-raising arms, from many sectors, like sports, but this is the apparel industry’s effort,” he said.
The all-day event will begin at 7:30 a.m., when contestants will register for golfing events, including a three-hole competition called the “Shootout.” The main event, a “Four Man Scramble” format, where competitors begin at different holes on the green, will begin at 11 a.m.
The cocktail party will begin at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served shortly thereafter. During the course of the dinner, a silent and live auction will be held, featuring donated items ranging from golf memorabilia to hotel stays and laser surgery.
The golf tournament and dinner will benefit the City of Hope’s National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute, located in Duarte, Calif. In its 89-year history, the institute has fought many of the most life-threatening diseases, including leukemia and other forms of cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and HIV/AIDS.
