Madison Bids Adieu to Emma Gold
The Los Angeles-based retail store formerly known as Emma Gold on Melrose Avenue celebrated its new moniker, Madison, on Nov. 7. Owner Mark Goldstein said it was time for the 2-year-old boutique to capitalize on his already established brand name. Goldstein has other Madison stores in Malibu, in the community of Brentwood and on Robertson Boulevard. “We were trying to be a little more offbeat, but we realized it’s not the right time to be pioneering,” Goldstein said. “I want to have merchandise more in sync with other stores.” It was a good enough reason to party for the bustling crowd, which included stylists, customers, readers of sponsor magazine Vogue and celebrities including Dorian Gregory. Most spent their time waiting at the bar for a Vox vodka concoction, such as cregrave;me de cacao-based Moon Waters. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
