Local Lines Take Dallas

Eletra Casadei and Nally & Millie were among several local designers to pick up an award at the 27th annual Dallas Fashion Awards held Oct. 26 at the Dallas Market Center.

Retailers, buyers and other members of the fashion industry nominated designers and manufacturers in 13 apparel categories.

Eletra Casadei picked up an award for designer of the year for the special occasion dress category, while Nally & Millie was recognized for best junior contemporary design.

“We were all excited to have been nominated,” says designer Nally Park, who owns and operates a vertical operation near downtown Los Angeles with husband James. “My husband and I share this recognition with everyone at the company who has contributed in so many ways to this moment.”

Several designers who attended the event, including Narciso Rodriguez, Mandalay, Nicole Miller and Natori, donated ornately decorated denim jackets to help benefit AIDS research. The evening was also highlighted by a tribute to legendary retailer Stanley Marcus, founder of Neiman Marcus.

Vernon-based Seven Jeans for contemporary, Rolling Hills Estates-based Christine Phillipe for sportswear, Oakland- based Chicken Noodle for childrenswear and Los Angeles-based Barry Bricken for menswear were other California lines that picked up awards.
