Revlon and Fred Segal Partner

Beauty products company Revlon has unveiled a line of T-shirts to be sold exclusively in the Los Angeles area at Fred Segal Santa Monica. Boutiques Fred Segal Fun and Sharon Segal at Fred Segal will carry the lines, and both of the stores’ owners plan to donate 100 percent of their proceeds to local charities.

“The product is adorable and Revlon is so tuned into cancer, which is an important subject to me, so it seemed like we were the perfect outlet for this venture,” said Jackie Brander, owner of Fred Segal Fun, who will donate all proceeds to the Brander Oncological Nutrition Program at the John Wayne Cancer Center in Santa Monica. Brander expects to generate $50,000 in sales in the line’s first season.

The other boutique’s owner, Sharon Segal, plans to donate store proceeds to her family’s charity, the Children’s Life-Saving Foundation in Malibu, Calif.

Licensed by San Fernando, Calif.-based Jem Sportswear Inc., the T-shirt line is designed by Orna Stark, the designer of Jem’s Awake Inc. division. Retailing for $40 to $55 each, the line, based on Revlon’s color hues, will feature 11 silhouettes—including baby tees, tanks, V-necks and crew-necks—crafted in cotton/Lycra and brushed-cotton with embellishments.

To stand out from the madding T-shirt crowd, Revlon is capitalizing on its own resources for signature packaging. Each T-shirt comes with matching nail polish and an inspirational tag encased in a plastic purse.

Nationwide, the 11-store chain A Nose for Clothes in Atlanta and Florida, Roxy in Colorado and Confetti in North Carolina will also carry the line, and some of the retailers may also donate a portion of proceeds to cancer-related charities. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
