I.L.U. Launches Tops, Opens New N.Y. Showroom
Los Angeles-based junior pants manufacturer I.L.U. plans to launch a collection of blouses and tees for Fall 2002, according to the company.
I.L.U. co-owner Mark Hoftman said buyer demand prompted the company to create a tops collection. “We expect that our success in the bottoms category will translate into a strong launch for I.L.U. tops,” he said.
The collection will be available in sizes S to XL and will consist of peasant blouses, novelty T-shirts, tanks, camisoles and empire-waist tops made with poplin, gauze and rayon. Some pieces will be made with lace and mesh details.
The tops, which will retail between $20 and $35, will be sold at such junior retail stores as Wet Seal, Gadzooks and Charlotte Russe starting in July. First delivery dates begin June 30. In other company news, I.L.U.recently announced that it has relocated from its New York showroom to larger digs in the same building, located at 1407 Broadway, Suite 907.
The 1,780-square-foot showroom is nearly double the size of its former space and will carry a mix of missy, junior and kids’ tops and bottoms, said a company spokeswoman. —Claudia Figueroa
