Mossimo Taps Roxy's Zwahlen for VP
Santa Monica, Calif.-based Mossimo Inc. recently announced the hiring of Lissa Zwahlen as vice president of product development. Her primary focus will be on the new relationship forged with Canada-based Hudson’s Bay Co. (HBC).
Zwahlen previously was instrumental in the development of the Roxy brand for Quiksilver, serving as design director and vice president of women’s design. In her new position, she will develop Mossimo’s relationship with HBC, acting as the liaison between HBC’s Zellers stores in Canada, which will be the exclusive sellers of Mossimo fashions in that country.
Mossimo was founded in 1987 and designs men’s, women’s, boys’ and girls’ apparel. The company was successful as both manufacturer and retailer while distributing its product to department stores until 1997, when the sales hit the skids. The rebound plan was to distribute exclusively to Target stores in the United States. —Darryl James
