Three Southern Govenors Urged the Government
Three Southern governors urged the government to take action to protect the U.S. textile industry in a recent letter sent to the Bush administration. The governors of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia have asked the government to look into illegal dumping of fabric, textile import smuggling and the effect of foreign currency devaluations on textile tariffs. The governors also asked that the government investigate aid and retraining for laid-off domestic textile workers and tax incentives for U.S. towns impacted by the decline in the domestic textile industry.
