New Beverly Hills Boutique Bows
Paris-born retailer Laurence Sager recently hosted a party to celebrate the grand opening of Laurence et Surabaya, a 700-square-foot European boutique located on Brighton Way adjacent to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Calif.
Sanger said Laurence et Surabaya caters to the all-around dressing needs of a woman with an exclusive collection of French and Italian lines, including Surabaya, a traditional line from France, and Anna Rachele, an Italian line comprised of body-conscious looks, as well as hand-embroidered jeans from Janine Dray and Patricia Adams embellished leather. Adams, who creates treated leather fashions in bold colors, received a boost from Mary J. Blige when the singer performed at the Grammy Awards in February wearing a shiny gold leather pantsuit.
A graduate of the Fleuri de la Porte and Esmode schools in France, where she studied illustration and fashion, Sager has operated a boutique in Paris in the past and has opened day spas in New York, where she lived for 15 years. Her Beverly Hills boutique is her first venture in the Los Angeles area, and she projects to ring up $1 million in sales in the first year. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
