Consumer Extreme Sports Show to Bow
The Extreme Action Sports Show (EAS), a brand new event similar in theme to the Action Sports Retailer Trade Expo (ASR), will roll into the Long Beach [Calif.] Convention Center June 21–23. But while ASR brings retailers and action sports–related manufacturers together, EAS seeks to bring those same retailers together with consumers to sell, promote and demonstrate products and services directly to the target audience.
“Consumers will be able to test new products and in some cases buy them right then and there,” said Stacey Davis, a spokesperson for EAS. “It’s the only opportunity for manufacturers to market directly to the public face to face.”
Extreme action sports are divided up into four categories for the show: City (including auto racing, bungee jumping, freestyle bicycling, in-line skating, skateboarding, skydiving and street luge), Snow (para-skiing, polar expeditions, snowboarding, snowcross and snow skiing), Mountain (dirt biking, dirtboarding, hang gliding, mountain biking, mountaineering, rock climbing, sandboarding and base jumping) and Water (kayaking, sailing, scuba diving, surfing, water skiing and white-water rafting).
EAS, which is sponsored by AT&T, will include such exhibitors as Fa Dunk, El Sol, Huck Doll and Promotions in Motion (paintball).
Davis said that the show will represent a chance for anyone interested in extreme action sports to do some investigating.
“Since we are an all-encompassing action sports show, it will be a great opportunity for people who are interested in maybe one or two of the sports represented, and also to find out information on other sports that are there,” said Davis. “It’s also a great place for people to find out about the new emerging sports.”
With close to 300,000 square feet of exhibit and demonstration space, EAS seeks to create the largest exhibition of action sports–related products and services ever assembled under one roof. The cost to exhibit is $15 per square foot. Admission for consumers is $15 for general admission, with no charge for children under 4. For more information, call (818) 734-9755. —Darryl James
