Quiksilver Launches Entertainment Division
Surf giant Quiksilver has started a new entertainment division, Quiksilver Entertainment, with plans to cash in on the Huntington Beach, Calif.-based company’s expertise in action sports by helping to develop programming for television, movies, events, music and publishing.
Danny Kwock will serve as president of the new division.
The company is currently working on developing a series of profiles of action sports athletes for cable TV. And the company recently announced a deal with Burbank, Calif.-based TVN Entertainment for a video-on-demand venture, Union, the boardriding channel, which is set to bow this summer.
The new division will also look for corporate partners looking to tap into the youth market. Specifically, Quiksilver is looking for partners in consumer electronics, telecommunications, the automotive field and packaged goods geared to youth.
Additionally, Quiksilver has launched a marketing program with Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment’s Screenblast for summer, and the company has an upcoming promotion with cellular phone company Boost Mobile.
