Private Circle Shortens Name
Los Angeles-based sportswear company Private Circle recently announced that it has shortened its name to Private in order to capitalize on the branding of parent company Private Media Group.
The first presentation of the line under the new name was the Summer 2002 collection shown at the Femme show in New York Jan. 5–7, and the Fall 2002 collection will be shown at the 7th on Sixth Fashion Week in New York in February.
“I really felt it was necessary to bring the line closer to our parent company, Private Media Group, as we are making changes in both the line and our marketing strategy,” said Private president Danny Cook. “Private has such global recognition, that for us to really capitalize on this, we needed to make the line sexier and more attractive to our customers worldwide.”
Private also launched a T-shirt line designed as a collaborative effort by Private designer Freddi Rojas and former Fresh Jive artist Nathan Jobe. The line will sell in Private’s Los Angeles retail store (formerly X Collection) as well as in specialty stores and boutiques around the nation.
Private is a subsidiary of MillCap Media Group, a Barcelona, Spain-based entertainment company with business in restaurants, nightclubs, adult entertainment and soft drinks. —Darryl James
