Tommy Bahama Taps Williams
New York- and Seattle-based Tommy Bahama recently appointed Clark Williams as director of design for denim in the company’s Seattle office. This comes after the company added new product categories and expanded its men’s design department to encompass two separate divisions—menswear and denim—with a design director for each division.
Julie Nardi, who has been with the company since 1992, will continue as director of design for menswear.
Williams will be responsible for the design and development of Indigo Palms, Tommy Bahama’s men’s denim collection, which debuted at MAGIC International’s Spring 2002 show last August. His first collection will be for Holiday 2002.
Williams was a founding partner in RLX/Relax, a men’s better sportswear company, and the principal of CW Design, which designed product for such companies as North Face, Forresters and E.N.U.F. He also served as the design director for Robert Comstock.
Tommy Bahama, a division of Viewpont International, was established in August 1992. The company offers collections of upscale casual men’s and women’s sportswear, loungewear, footwear, neckwear and hosiery, which are available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. It also has 18 Tommy Bahama retail locations across the country. —Darryl James
