Cousin Johnny
CMC, Suite B-501 (213) 327-0220
Cousin Johnny’s well-lit and lofty studio showroom is for fashion minimalists who are on the lookout for a novel sweater collection that sells itself on comfort as well as style. The New York-based company’s sparsely decorated 800-square-foot showroom offers a mix of brightly colored sweaters that are arranged in a medley of fine wools, angoras and cashmere. “Our main focus here is not so much on the showroom’s deacute;cor but to showcase our collection,” said Rachel Alcalde, West Coast sales rep.
There are about 80 sweaters in the company’s Holiday collection, including a cotton and acrylic sheer knitted sweater with cotton tipping sleeves ($48 wholesale), which comes in baby blue, ivory, black and red; a super-soft peasant sweater ($44 wholesale) with front tie that is 90 percent cotton, 5 percent angora and 5 percent cashmere; and a wool, angora and cashmere blend V-neck sweater with braided trim ($64 wholesale). The company also uses 100 percent acrylic fabric, which it calls “Fashmere” (pronounced “fahz-meer”), for a V-neck hook-and-eye shawl collar cardigan with floral embroidery ($58).
The line is currently sold in Los Angeles at Fred Segal Fun on Santa Monica Boulevard and in Santa Monica, Calif., at Z Clothing on Montana Avenue, as well as at Ooma in San Francisco and La Boutique in Del Mar, Calif. —Claudia Figueroa
