Self Esteem Targets Tweens, Expands Showrooms

Commerce, Calif.-based juniors manufacturer Self Esteem is expanding its apparel offerings to include a tweens collection after testing a group of tween-sized tops for Fall 2001. The manufacturer is in production on a full collection for Spring 2002.

“We feel that tweens is a viable category for expansion and a natural addition to the Self Esteem brand,” said Self Esteem’s owner, Richard Clareman. “Interpreting our collection for the younger sister of the already loyal Self Esteem customer is an exciting step for the company.”

The collection will be comprised of smaller versions of Self Esteem’s most popular styles and will be targeted at girls sized 7–14.

Self Esteem recently increased the size of both its Los Angeles and New York showrooms to accommodate the new collection as well as its new sleepwear styles in both juniors and tweens.
