Vecchiarelli Honors LATT Students
Fashion students from Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATT) were recently recognized for their pattern-making skills in an awards presentation on campus by apparel products supplier Vecchiarelli Brothers.
Two students, Marie De Jesus Carbojal and Tonya Tang, were winners in a pattern-making contest sponsored by the company. For their efforts, Carbojal received a PGM dress form while Tang received a $100 gift certificate. The contest was open to advanced students, and participants were given four hours to craft a pattern by hand.
“We do this to promote pattern-making skills for the industry,” said company owner Joseph Vecchiarelli. “We view L.A. Trade-Tech as one of the most highly rated schools in the country for this field. We felt it was important to recognize the students for these skills, which are very important to the industry.”
LATT’s Joyce Gale and Helen Joseph Armstrong, who direct pattern making for the college, helped present the awards. A reception for all of the school’s fashion students was also held. —Robert McAllister
