FIG Sale Nets $86,000 for Cedars-Sinai
The Fashion Industries Guild of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center raised $86,000 at its seventh annual Manufacturers’ Charity Sale on May 18 and 19 at the California Mart, according to Hal Kaltman, vice president of the organization.
“It was very close to our goal amount and the turn out for the event was marvelous,” Kaltman said, adding that the event drew more than 900 attendees on the second day of the sale. Admission to the charity sale was $1.
All of the items up for grabs were donated by local manufacturers, including Beach Patrol, Guess?, Lucky Brand Dungarees, Devan, Karen Kane, LEI, Space Girlz, Hot Kiss and Great Escape. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Facility at Cendars-Sinai Medical Center.
The sale kicked off preparations for the Guild’s Oct. 6 annual fundraising gala and dinner dance at the Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., where Ilse Metchek, executive director of both the California Fashion Association (CFA) and L.A. By Design, will receive the Fashion Guild of Cedars Sinai Medical Center “Person of the Year” award. For more information on the event, call (310) 996-0239. —Staff report
