Cal Mart Sets Fall II/Holiday Market Schedule
The Fall II/Holiday market running June 1–5 at the California Mart will feature a new focus on lifestyle collections, the return of the Pacific Coast Travelers (PCT) fashion show and an exhibition of manufacturers and textile suppliers from South Africa.
PCT will hold its Fall II/Holiday fashion show at 6 p.m. on June 1 in the Fashion Theater. The organization postponed its fashion show during the April market because the group was moving its temporary exhibition space from the 13th floor of the Cal Mart to the third floor of the building. Once again, PCT’s temporary exhibitors will be located in suites on the B and C wing of the third floor.
The Cal Mart will host “The Lounge” party on June 3 at 6 p.m., with live salsa and Latin jazz by the Susie Hansen Band.
There will also be a cocktail party followed by a trend presentation and fashion show on June 4 to spotlight “Lifestyle Collections 2002,” a collection of showrooms on the Cal Mart’s 12th floor that carries merchandise such as home accessories, gifts and specialty apparel. The June 4 cocktail party will be held at 5:30 p.m. in suite B1290. Los Angeles-based trend forecaster Fran Tesser-Sude, owner of Color by Design Options, will present a color and trend presentation and fashion show focusing on the apparel and home furnishing industries at 7 p.m. on June 4, also in suite B1290.
A group of 30 apparel and textile manufacturers from Sub-Saharan countries such as Mauritius, Madagascar and Kenya, will be at the show as well. The Southern African Apparel and Textile Exhibition, sponsored by the Mauritius Industrial Development Authority, will be exhibiting on the second floor Market Mezzanine May 31–June 2. —Staff report
