California unemployment rose for the second month in a row, increasing to 4.8 percent in April, following March’s rise to 4.7 percent; unemployment in Los Angeles County rose to 5.1 percent in April from 4.9 percent in March...Sears Roebuck & Co. will renovate its former catalog distribution center in the Boyle Heights section of Los Angeles, opening a 250,000-square-foot store in late 2002; the new store will replace the existing store currently located on the same lot.
