Metchek Named Person of the Year by Fashion Industries Guild
Ilse Metchek has been named Person of the Year by the Fashion Industries Guild of Cedars Sinai Medical Center, which will host its annual fundraising gala on Oct. 6 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The event typically draws top executives in Los Angeles’ apparel and textile industries and this year’s event is expected to sell out. Metchek is the executive director of the California Fashion Association, the industry organization founded in 1994, after the Los Angeles riots; today it boasts 250 members. She is also executive director of LA By Design, the newly formed unit of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. (LAEDC), which promotes the creative strengths of the Los Angeles area both locally and nationally.
Metchek has a long history in the Los Angeles apparel business. She was a designer for the late Jack Needleman’s Anjac Fashions and owned her own line, Ilse M. She also served as president of White Stag Inc., a division of Warnaco Industries, and was an executive director of the California Mart.
