New York-based retailer J. Crew will launch a children’s and tween version of its catalog, called J. Crew Kids, this month, following a small test of the merchandise in the company’s retail stores this past spring; the company will begin shipping the catalog within its regular catalog for back-to-school and will launch a separate catalog in time for the holidays; also, J. Crew retail stores will begin carrying the new line; the line is geared to boys and girls ages six to 12 and will feature similar styling to J. Crew’s men’s and women’s lines...Plus-size model Natasha Duncan apparently took her own life July 21 by slashing her throat in her New York City apartment; Duncan, who appeared in magazines such as Mode and Seventeen, was reportedly suffering from depression...Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike Inc. has recalled approximately 425,000 pairs of cross-training shoes under the Jordan Trunner labels, including Trunner, Trunner Mid, Trunner Bubble and Trunner 2000 shoes, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission; the shoes contain a metal strip that can protrude from the heel of the shoes and cause injuries.
