Mexico is showing more signs of deepening recession as several maquiladoras along the U.S.-Mexico border recently began laying off workers, according to a recent report in the Los Angeles Times...A legislative attempt to grant Mexican freight companies unrestricted access to U.S. roads stalled in the House of Representatives last week when the proposed amendment to the North American Free Trade Agreement failed to garner enough support; the amendment was an attempt to allow freight carriers from Mexico to compete directly with U.S. companies.
