KJLA-TV Spotlights Local Latin Designers

A new television program featuring Latin music and Los Angeles design talent is in the works for a local television station.

Producers at KJLA [www.kjla.com], a minority-owned station serving Latino viewers in the Los Angeles area, are launching their new “LATV Live” show Jan. 15.

The show will begin with four segments, with plans to increase the coverage, according to the show’s producer, Claudia Garcia.

The fashion segment will feature Latin-owned local retailers and Latin designers, stylists and other fashion industry notables.

Melrose Avenue retailer JonValdi and Santa Monica-based designer David Cardona are scheduled to appear on the program.

“We all decided that we wanted to add variety to our show, and we knew that it would be cool to feature Latin designers because our viewers can relate to them,” said Garcia. “When we see other Latinos succeeding on TV, we’re happy for them. [We] can identify with them, and that, in turn, inspires us.”

The show will air Monday through Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. on channel 57. —Andrea Bermudez
