The Port Washington, N.Y.-based NPD Group Inc., a marketing information group, has launched NPDFashionworld, a for-subscription Web site designed to provide secure access to timely market data and analysis, including data from NPD’s online consumer panel and retail point-of-sale tracking.
NPDFashionworld, intended to be the first of several industry-specific sites, combines information on industry and behavioral trends with insight on consumer attitudes. Applications of the available data include guiding new product or business development, improving product distribution, adjusting pricing strategy and developing or fine-tuning marketing plans. The site’s capabilities include customizable graphs and charts with information on such topics and issues as brand performance, pricing and customer satisfaction.
NPD is set to follow Fashionworld with sites targeting the toys and gaming and technology industries later this year. NPD’s consumer data have been collected through an online panel, which has access to over 2.7 million individuals. Other markets tracked by NPD include footwear, cosmetics and fragrances, automotive products, consumer electronics, food and food service, housewares, information technology, interactive entertainment, toys and music.
