Hong Kong Prepares for Winter Wonderland
The usually temperate clime of Hong Kong will be transformed into a winter wonderland in January as organizers of Hong Kong Fall/Winter Fashion Week prepare for the opening night Fashion Extravaganza on Jan. 15.
The theme of this year’s opening-night gala will be “Winter Wonderland” and will feature Asian designers including Walter Ma, Cecelia Yau, Dorian Ho, Amus Yeung and Joseph Li.
The show, which serves as a kickoff for the week, typically draws local designers, celebrities and industry leaders.
The Jan. 15–18 trade show at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre will feature designer labels from Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as manufacturers from Hong Kong, mainland China, India, Taiwan and other production centers in the region. The show is roughly grouped into pavilions representing segments of the market. This year, a lingerie pavilion has been added to the offerings, which include the Fashion Accessories Mart, the Fashion Gallery, the Garment Mart and the Asian Pacific Designers Showcase.
The week will also include several fashion shows in addition to the opening-night Extravaganza, including the Asian Pacific Fashion Designers’ Show, the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association Show and the Hong Kong Young Designers Contest, which will close the week.
