Kani Launches LIFE
City of Industry, Calif.-based manufacturer Karl Kani launched a new line of denim-driven clothing for men and women under the label LIFE during the Aug. 27–30 run of MAGIC International in Las Vegas.
The line, which is a separate entity from the company’s urban label Karl Kani, boasts a more European-inspired style, yet still maintains a youthful and funky flavor, according to the company.
“Contrast and Contradiction” is the theme for the Spring 2002 men’s collection offering denims in handblasted, dyed, bleached, patched and distressed fabrications. For women, it’s “Chloe-meets-Madonna,” with denim separates that are jeweled, beaded and embroidered.
The company is planning a consumer ad campaign for November in publications including Vibe, Maxim, Glamour, Honey, XXL and Essence. —Joselle Yokogawa
