Bardot Launches Couture at quot;Kabarettquot;

Los Angeles-based fashion designer Renee Bardot will take a break from her bustling boutique on La Brea Avenue and use her celebrity connections to unveil her latest collection of haute couture at a fashion benefit for Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) called Kabarett, which will be held on Sep. 17 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles.

The show will include 28 pieces from the designer’s contemporary line as well as several pieces from the new couture collection.

The contemporary portion of the show will showcase Bardot’s designer-denim collection as well as demonstrate the designer’s fervor for all things chiffon and satin. Bardot’s couture collection includes chiffon bias-cut dresses and her one-of-a-kind leather ball gown.

Several of the designer’s clients are scheduled to make appearances in the fashion show, including actress Juliette Lewis, singer Terri Nunn, and television actresses Aisha Tyler (“Talk Soup”), Julie Benz (“Buffy, The Vampire Slayer”), Beth Broderick (“Sabrina, The Teenage Witch”) and Heather Dawn (“Bull”).

Additionally, the show will feature the work of handbag designer Melinda Gomez of Coremose.

In recent years, DIFFA has tapped into Los Angeles’ design community for financial support for their cause and has donated over $27 million to AIDS organizations throughout the country.

Tickets for the event are $45 for general admission and $75 for VIP seats. For more information, call (310) 652-6601. —Claudia Figueroa
