Men of Daytime Television Model for West Coast Collective
The upscale menswear trade show West Coast Collective took its evening entertainment to a new level this year with the addition of a fashion show featuring daytime television actors as models at the Napa Valley Grille, located in Los Angeles’ Westwood section. The show also served as a benefit for Our House, a nonprofit support center offering grief counseling for children and adults.
The Napa Valley Grille, within walking distance of the W Hotel, host to the Collective, provided a Napa Valley-like environment, with a top-rack selection of wine complimented by wine-country cuisine.
The models, all from soap operas on the big three networks, were paired with the Fall collections of Bella Leather, DKNY, 4 You, Isaac Charles, Jhane Barnes, Joseph Abboud, Perry Ellis, Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker London, Tommy Bahama, Torras of Spain, Wendell Williams, Wilke Rodriguez and Zeus, who brought along a couple of Playboy bunnies.
The master of ceremonies for the evening was Jerry Pennacoli, host of the television show “Extra.”
The crowd was a mixture of buyers, Collective exhibitors, press and industry supporters. According to Larry Hymes, Collective co-founder, the fashion show added to the excitement of the buyers and helped increase attendance during the day at the show. —Darryl James
