Mexico has reduced the number of entry points that trucks carrying textile and apparel imports can use to enter the U.S. from several hundred to five as part of a new border policy instituted in an effort to prevent transshipment of goods to the U.S. through Mexico; Mexican officials said they will allow textile and apparel goods to pass through all entry points for the next 10 to 30 days to allow companies to prepare for the new program; for now, the customs points include Ciudad Juarez, Manzanillo, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo and Progresso; additional border points are expected to be added, including Cancun, Colombia, Hidalgo, Tijuana and Vera Cruz; the policy does not apply to goods manufactured under the maquila or 807 programs.
