Cyberspace: Dec. 29, 2000

Seven of the top 10 e-tailers for the week ending Dec. 17—when holiday Y2K was already all but over for retailers on the Web—were those that have a brick-and-mortar presence as well; Walmart.com was fourth on the top 10 list that was led, as expected, by Amazon.com; Walmart.com grew by more than 570 percent over the comparable week last year, according to data from the Nielsen/Net Ratings measurement service; JCPenney.com was sixth on the list and grew by more than 58 percent over last year; BlueLight.com, Kmart’s online service, was eighth on the list and grew by more than 277 percent; ninth on the list was Sears.com, which grew by more 114 percent over last year, and 10th was Target.com, which grew by more than 262 percent; the Nielsen list measures at-home cyber shoppers only.
